Copo De Água

It is a Portuguese tradition for the Bride and Groom to host a Copo De Água - a Cup of Water - for their guests before the ceremony. It‘s our chance to relax, have some food and drink, and enjoy some time with you before the celebration kicks off. Please come join us for some tasty bites and drinks before we say “I do”!

We’ll be having a traditional Catholic ceremony at the Bride’s village church, a place that means a lot to the Barros family. It is where Catarina was baptised, made her first holy communion, and where her parents tied the knot. And now, it is where we will tie the knot too

Here is where the fun really begins! Next door to the Roman aqueducts, - the venue’s namesake - we’ll be surrounded by plenty of food, drinks, music, and most importantly, the people we love. We expect to see all of you on the dance floor … no excuses! Let the party begin!

The nearest airport is Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO) in Porto, just a 20 minute drive from the reception venue in Póvoa de Varzim.

Since August is peak travel season, we definitely recommend booking your flights nice and early to make sure you can join us (and avoid those sky-high summer prices!).

Portugal’s big cities are well connected, but the easiest and most budget-friendly way to get around is by car. We strongly recommend you rent cars for your trip so everything runs smoothly on the day. Booking early, and teaming up with other, usually gets you the best deal.

Good news: the venue lets guests leave cars overnight, so you can enjoy the reception without rushing off. Just don’t forget where you parked when you come back the next morning!

  • No white or black. This is a joyous occasion in the middle of summer so we want our guests to embrace colour!

    For women, we ask that guests wear formal dresses.

    Men are asked to wear suits i.e. jacket, shirt and trousers. Ties are not required but you are welcome to wear one!

  • While we’d love to hand out plus ones like confetti, we’ve kept our guest list small so we can celebrate with our nearest and dearest. For that reason, we’re only offering plus ones to those we’ve already spoken to directly.

    If you’d love to bring someone but haven’t been given a plus one yet, please reach out to us as soon as possible. We can’t promise anything, but spaces may open up as we get closer to the big day—and if they do, we’ll let you know.

    And one tiny favour: please don’t surprise us by turning up with an unconfirmed plus one or a Tinder date. As charming as they may be, they won’t be on the guest list—and we’d prefer to avoid any awkward moments!

  • To help keep our planning on track, we’re only able to invite the children of our immediate family. We hope you understand—and truly appreciate your support in helping our day run smoothly. If your save-the-date mentioned your child or children by name, rest assured they’ve been included but please feel free to confirm!

  • If you’re unable to drive and can’t hitch a ride with fellow guests, just let us know. We’ll be arranging transportation for those rare special cases.

  • If you’ve had a bit too much fun, leave your car at the venue and grab a taxi/ Uber home—just don’t be surprised if the venue decides it likes your car better than you.

  • Absolutely not! Seeing you there and celebrating with us is already gift enough. But if you insist on spoiling us a bit, contributions toward our South American honeymoon are perfect.

    There will be a collection box at the reception, or you can send a bank transfer. Think of it as giving us plane tickets, sunsets, and a slightly questionable number of cocktails.
